Aqua – Water as first ingredient. It is fairly common, no harm here 😉
Sodium Laureth Sulfate – a little bit more gentle than SLS . It is a degreaser and can have a drying effect on skin.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate – inexpensive and very effective foaming agent, it cleaning and emulsifying properties,SLES is an irritant like many other detergents, with the irritation increasing with concentration.
Glycol Distearate – emollient, has a high foaming capacity, used to condition skin
Cetyl Alcohol – Cetyl alcohol is used in the cosmetic industry as an opacifier in shampoos, or as an emollient, emulsifier or thickening agent in the manufacture of skin creams and lotions. It is also used as a lubricant for nuts and bolts.
Betaine – well tolerated by the skin, used to counteract negative effects of SLS and SLES
Lavandula Angusifolia Flower Extract – lavender extract, gives this shampoo a nice smell
Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate -chemical skin filter. Some reserarch shows tahat it penetrates the outer skin
Benzophenone-4 -chemical sun screen, FDA approved in concentration less tnah 10%, stabisises chemical sun sreens
Disodium Distyrylbiphenyl – softens hair and gives it a nice shine
Benzyl Alcohol – solvent, preservant
Cocamidopropyl Betaine – act as a surfactant and as a detergent, can cause allergies for people with very sensitive skin.
Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride – has conditioning properties

Cocamide MEA -used as foaming agents and nonionic surfactants in shampoos, linked to cancer
PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil – is the polyethylene glycol derivatives of hydrogenated castor oil. It is used in cosmetics and beauty products as an emulsifier, surfactant, and fragrance ingredient, according to research. Not recommended to be used on an irritated skin.
Glycine – Glycine serves as a buffering agent in antacids, analgesics, antiperspirants, cosmetics, and toiletries.
Sodium Hydroxide – is a highly caustic substance that is used to neutralize acids and make sodium salts
Lactic Acid -used to neutralise acids, minimises pores, moisturises, stops product from drying out
Disodium EDTA -It primarily works as a preservative, chelator and stabilizer, but has also been shown to enhance the foaming and cleaning capabilities of a cosmetic solution.
Sodium Chloride – Sodium chloride (table salt) is used to thicken the mixture if the main surfactants are sodium lauryl sulfates, can be drying on the skin.
Malic Acid – pH regulator.
Trideceth-9 – emulsifying agent.
Sodium Xylene sulfonate -serves as a claritant or wetting agent that helps a formula spread more easily and ensure efficient cleansing
Pentylene Glycol -used as a solvent and preservative, moisturises, stops formula from drying, gets absorbed by skin
Propylene Glycol – solvent, gets absorbed by the skin, can irritate damaged skin.
Bisabolol – alcohol found in camomile oil, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, has a soothing effect
Methylchloroisothiazolinone, preservative, not allowed in Japan and Canada, causes allergies and irritabis skin.
Parfum – fragrance, allergen.
Acid Violet 43 – colour
Limonene, Butyphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal – fragrance, can cause allergies
Long story short. This shampoo has too many irritants and too many ingredients in general. I think I will stick to more natural products. Hopefully I will find a natural shampoo that will suit my hair 🙂
